The Normandy Manoir

As we got closer and closer to our destination - the anticipation was building as to what this internet house rental would be like.  Would it be like the pictures, would it be what was described....we had no choice but to drive onward and hope for the best.  When we arrived it was dark, and the GPS took us down a dark backstreet up to an old gate with no lights.  What is this place?  Oh dear could this be it?  Not to mention - Jacob decided in the last few minutes to get car sick & Chris was outside the car cleaning up the back of his rental car.  The gate slowly opened and in we drove beyond the gate. Picture a road covered in trees with an iron gate ahead.  After passing through the iron gate - our eyes beheld something of beauty.  Could this really be?  All the fears and doubts outside the gate made way to something spectacular.  The price of renting is no more than staying at a hotel off the highway in the US, could the price be too good to be true?  A lady came out of the manoir and introduced herself as Laurence.  She said if we followed her we could see where we would be staying.  Mind you, all she spoke was French & we stumbled through the conversation as best we could to communicate.  We drove up to our cottage on the manoir property in awe of the beauty.  As we walked upstairs - fears turned to delight as we saw where we would be staying.  Never in my wildest dreams could we have picked a better location. After unloading our luggage - we made our way to a local Carrefour (like a European target) to get a few essentials for the night.  Back at the house we tucked ourselves in & awaited the morning light to shine so we could discover more of our home for the next 3 weeks.

Ever slept so hard that you wake up and forget where you are?  This is what I saw upon awaking -
Oh, we are most definitely not in Waco anymore?  I rolled over and saw this out the other window..

Ready to see the outside of the owner's manoir? This is the view from my front door.

Here is a picture of the kids in front of the guest gite (house) where we are staying.  * Note - Mimi & Honey - your room is just inside that door. :) Can't wait for you to see it!

Right before we headed out for our first adventure into a small village ....

  3. Thank you friends! It has been so amazing & the colors have been such a treat to see. Today while we were home - we watched as they scooped all the fallen leaves up into big piles and wisked them away. It was sad to see them go - but so fun to watch the season in action & these sweet people live their daily life.
