Bonjour Paris!!

Chris and I left on Thursday morning, bright & early to take Jeannette & Pierre back to the airport.  The thing about naming a car or its GPS system is you get attached to it.  It was so sad for me to see them go.  What was dread the first day of the trip, became a dear travel companion over the last couple weeks.  ;)  Au Revoir, Jeannette & Pierre!   P.S. - Any Girlmore Girls watchers?  Driving through the streets of Paris at 5am reminded me of the episode where Loralai and Christopher are looking for a place to eat in the wee hours of the morning.  :)

We decided to take a taxi back to the apartment instead of the train & although caught in traffic - I found it quite relaxing after weeks of driving.  Our taxi even showed us different things out the window as we passed by.  After getting home - Chris began preparing for his presentation that he would be doing that morning at HEC Paris.  Mom and I ran out to a nearby creperie & met our new friend Amit (not sure I spelled it correctly) - but loved getting to meet him.  Now let me stop & say not all creperies are created equal.  Some have pre-made crepes that they place on the heated griddle and spread your toppings on and whip it together quickly with little care for taste.  Not Amit's creperie - no sir.  The man made special attention to each crepe we ordered and even answered my questions as I asked how to make one.  4 nutella crepes, 2 ham, egg & cheese, & 2 sausage & cheese was our family breakfast order.   I only have one word - delicious!!!  Even better followed down with a cold glass of orange juice.

I have to take a rabbit trail for a moment and share two very odd cravings I have had while here.  When we were in our first week in Normandy - I had to have hot buttered popcorn.  Where it came from in the land of delicious eats - who knows?  But I had to have it.  Next craving, orange juice.  The first day in Paris, the thought of orange juice - yum!  Give me 3 or 4 glasses of it.  Sweet Honey & Mimi had run down to the small grocery store & got not one but two cartons of OJ.  Craving compete!!

On Thursday - we spent most of the day getting some school done because we had to catch up from a few days off of school as well as unpacking & getting situated.  That night we went to the Latin Quarter for fondue after Chris got back from his presentation.  He said it went well & really enjoyed the opportunity to be there.

The kids loved the fondue and walking through the Latin quarter, although touristy, it is super fun & I really enjoy it.  We walked to see the Notre Dame lit up at night after dinner and then to have a gelato.  They shaped each cone of gelato into a flower.  They even let you pick more than one flavor too!!  Caramel & Pistachio for Chris and I!  Cherry for Mimi & Honey, Chocolate for Ryan & Halle, Cherry & Nutella for Rebekah, & Caramel & Nutella for Jacob.

Sweet moment when Rebekah offered to help Halle unbutton her coat for dinner.
Not too long after that - Halle informs us she is tired & this is a little rest she
had while eating her bread.

We are acclimating very well....we are thrilled about the adventure of living life in Paris for the next few weeks! :)
