Markets, Mimi & Music

We went to the Rue de Buci outdoor market, butcher shop, & Carrefour market (which is my favorite grocery store in the 6th).  The guys at this outdoor market have been so great to help us.  They even gave Jacob a bag full of litche to try for free.  We all thought they tasted like a a grape & melon combined.
Here is a picture of Mimi & the kids outside the market.  At the butcher shop, I've made friends with a man who speaks English named Simon.  I'm convinced as humans we love to hear our name or be remembered.  I had told him my name the first time I went & found out his.  This time I said, "Bonjour Simon."  The smile he had upon being remembered.  Now before you go & think how noble of me to remember this man's name - it's not without a personal side agenda.  I am clueless as to some of the cuts of meat (read the innards market story).... so I thought if I can befriend the man at the butcher shop - hopefully he can help me in choosing our meat while we are here.  Even though he will never read this:  Thank you, Simon.  Even though I learned your name to help us out - it has been a delight to have you part of our adventures and meet you.

Before we went into the grocery store, Mimi & Rebekah went out on their own adventure.  See her facebook post to find out about their time together:

"This morning I took Rebekah Joy with me to do some walking, talking, Christmas shopping and soak up Paris during the holidays. So much fun to watch her shop....just to be with her. I let her "take me" on the metro. She knew exactly where to go! I feel like an ant in an ant farm down in the metro tunnels! Lots and lots of people....it's really fun. "

After they returned, we went to the  Shakespeare & Company bookstore for the children's music hour.  First off, if ever in Paris, and if you even slightly enjoy reading - GO to this bookstore across from the Notre Dame.  So amazing & quaint!  The kids really enjoyed our time there & sang lots of fun songs - including Jingle Bells with a room full of English speaking people from all over the world.  Mrs. Bezerra you would have been super proud of our singing crew.  Rebekah even helped the lady leading the class with do-re-mi hand signs.
