Our night out at Cafe de Flore with the kids & Mimi &
Grandad!!! The kids had a blast eating there. We had told them so
much about it - that when given the opportunity to choose where to go
out on the town - Cafe de Flore was the place for them. It was so fun
to watch them order each of their meals off the menu themselves. So great to see how far we have come in 6 weeks in the culture.
Andy & Lori went for a walk through the Latin & St. Germain arrondissments, had dinner at the famous Deux Magot (why it is named that - we all were so curious - check it out here: Les Deux Magots).... yummy yummy food! Mimi & Grandad went out to Comptoir, a St. Germain favorite & dined on pork toes & risotto - yuck! We had warned them the menu is one of the toughest to maneuver in town, but if you order right - delicious!! Dad liked their entree, mom not so much - the risotto was good - but not the extra parts mixed in. Yikes - I think I am with her!
On Christmas Eve, we went to breakfast & to the patisserie & boucherie to get the rest of the items for our Christmas Eve meal. Here are a few pictures from our breakfast, the market, & our walk past Notre Dame.
For Christmas Eve, we had the Days over for an early dinner, went to enjoy the family mass at Notre Dame, & back to the apartment afterwards for Buche de Noel, a traditional French Christmas dessert.
Here is a picture of the jumbo screen outside on the bleachers to watch the Christmas mass.
All bundled up outside for the service.
Truly this photo does not do it justice. To sit on the bleachers and listen to a children's choir sing Oh Come All Ye Faithful in Latin with the crisp Christmas air and this amazing church in front of us - was an amazing thing to be part of.
My parents enjoying the Christmas celebration. I couldn't quite figure out the night-time setting on my camera - but had to share this photo anyways. So glad they are here for the fun!
